MONGAN
MAC LIR Mongan Mac Lir is a three year old chestnut colt by our four generation purebred Irish Draught stallion Yes Master out of a phenomenally bred IHB quality broodmare Mrs. G by Hallodri, TB. Hallodri is the sire of Golden Options, Innishannon Court, Innishanon Moss and Mill Street, Hallodri’s progeny have earned well over 1000 SJAI points through 2006, from a very limited number of foals and is notably the sire of World and European Champion Zara Phillips' horse ARDFIELD MAGIC STAR, the pair will be competing at the 2007 Burghley Horse Trials in the coming weeks and we wish them the very best. Mrs. G is the maternal granddaughter of Final Problem (TB), the sire of Rose, who was the dam of one of England’s top Irish Draught sire of sires and jumpers, who was a Grade A showjumper himself, “SKIPPY” RID and even more importantly the sire of “Western Problem” who is the grandsire of the 2005 US Eventing Horse of the year and #4 Event Horse in the world “HANNIGAN” ridden by Philip Dutton. Final Problem was by Tamerlane who was also the sire of Irish-bred Marlon who was a contemporary of Ladykiller, both of whom were purchased to improve the Holsteiner studbook. His immediate progeny were highly successful in all three sporthorse disciplines. They included Montevideo, Olympic dressage team gold medal winner; top international eventers Maniok and Milano; international-level show jumpers Malva, Ma Soliel, Mentor and Mowgli. Tamerlane was a good stakeswinner and successful sire, placing second to Our Babu in the 2,000 Guineas, but was not considered a top level stayer. Final Problem’s grandsire Persian Gulf also got the thoroughbred Papyer, used as a foundation sire for the Westphalian breed, whose son, Paradox I, got over 300 show jumpers and more than 20 approved warmblood sire sons. Mongan Mac Lir was 2006 Champion Irish Draught

Classic, September 2005, has been lightly started Celtic Myth has it that Mongan (Manannán) Mac Lir is the son of the Sea. The tale “Mananná at Play” features the Celtic god as a clown and beggar who turns out to be a harper, Manannán, in his trickster guise, plays a number of mischievous pranks, some resulting in serious trouble, but by the end of the tale he once again sets everything to right.
